Topre spacebar + 3M Scotchprint Brushed Metal Vinyl Wrap = Nice!
« on: Sat, 27 December 2014, 08:22:37 »
Scotch tapes do not look very good so I am using some leftover 3M vinyl wrap instead. They come in many colors and this one has a brushed metal finish so it feels really good.  :thumb:

I assume this is to prevent shine?

No point in doing that with the black one imo, since you can buy extras from EK. It does look better than scotch tape though.

Just trying out other materials besides the usual scotch tape.

It would be interesting to see a picture with better focus and without the glare, as I can't quite tell how well this works.

It works surprisingly well. It's much nicer than the mirror finish metal keys, which take the bling too far for my tastes.

Very nicely wrapped!

Now waiting for someone to do all the keys :p
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
