Apple Extended Keyboard M0115 + iMate ADB to USB Adapter
« on: Fri, 02 January 2015, 09:27:17 »
I got both from taobao recently and used it with a Lenovo notebook.
After a full day typing in office I found sometimes the board cannot register my keystrokes.
Especially the space bar.
The iMate ADB to USB adapter is not a simple re-wiring adapter but instead it has a small PCB.
There is a very small LED on the iMate's PCB. It flash whenever I made a keystroke.
I believe the iMate adapter is converting my keystroke signal from ADB to USB.
Is it the iMate problem that cannot handle fast keystrokes?
My WPM is not high. Around 95 WPM at 10fastfingers.
I will be very disappointed if the adapter cannot handle fast keystrokes. The keyboard is a great board...
Any way to trouble shoot the issue?

Whatever the problem is, it's not the iMate. The iMate handles ADB at full speed. (It can handle devices with far greater throughput than a keyboard, for example, graphics tablets.) Moreover, I've got the same combination and it works fine.

Especially if it's affecting one key more than others, I'd suspect a defect in the keyboard itself, like a broken trace.

(Btw, you call 95WMP "not high"? You kidding? I wish I were close to that fast!! :) )

Depending on what keyboard you had before, the Orange ALPS switches in the AEK have a lot more feedback and need more force to actuate the keys.  I have the exact same setup as you and like what you are possibly experiencing, I do not feel as fast with my AEK when switching from a keyboard with Cherry MX Reds.  I get used to it after a while and maybe it's just me being more deliberate with my key presses.
AEK - Orange ALPS | Leopold FC700R - Cherry MX Red | CM Storm Quickfire TK - Cherry MX Blue

Today I tested each keys carefully and found the 'x' key is not 100% work. Around 1-2 times fail to be registered out of 10. will disassemble the board for further investigation.
