[wtb/looking for] 2 keys for new Model M! (well not new)
« on: Mon, 05 January 2015, 22:42:26 »
I found a model M the other day while I was on patrol at a site! So, it's missing the - key and the right alt.. Anyone got one of each?

She's in awesome shape (from 1993) I'd like to toss these on and use the crap out of it!
I hate everything.

Check with Comrade Sniper he should be happy to sell you for a cheap price.

Unicomp could sell you replacement caps as well. I picked up some caps from them and they're quite nice.

Nice find!

There are a couple of eBay sellers selling individual Model M keycaps.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Don't buy replacements from Unicomp unless you need a big order because their minimum shipping is fairly expensive.

I've got plenty of each.  Would you like a set of green printed alt keys or a single standard black?

I bought from them, and I emailed them because the international shipping choices they gave me at checkout were a minimum of $20 and they arranged $8 tracked shipping for me. I would probably order an RGB set or something if I was going to order two caps. But I agree it would probably be cheaper to buy privately. :)

OK, fine, that's Canada. From USA to Canada probably there are inexpensive options.

When I wanted to buy from them 2 years ago, shipping to Singapore, I remember a huge figure like $46 or something (Fedex.). This may have changed, but I have been using a bulk proxy since then so I don't need direct shipping which is almost always more expensive.
