n00b Question - Acronyms?
« on: Wed, 04 February 2015, 09:56:08 »
Well I've been on geekhack for a little while now but I'm still finding my way around the place. One of the things I've seen is some little acronyms around the place. Things like "[IC]" or "[FS]" and I'm sure I've seen some more. I think I've figured IC = "Interest Check" but does anyone have any examples of other ones? (or is there some info in a thread or somewhere on the wiki that I've completely missed?)

Welcome to Geekhack!

FS doesn't seem to be in the glossary :))  It means "for sale".

There's some additional recommended reading here[/uel].
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

lol, zomg @OP, NP, AFAIK GH'ers are AATK, and are never AFK, so they use the same acronyms as the rest of the WWW, heh, BICBW.  IMO it's no BFD if u don't know every acronym when ur a nub, u'll learn them eventually.  For now, DWAI, and just watch out for FS's on CC's and BB's, also watch for GB's (which are pretty much only MX).

Umm, also FYI right now you might want to check the REDELAC, but FML I have missed every time except once.  And I ain't got nuttin'.  So W/E.

[oh yeah, my niece made up a new acronym last summer which is super kewl and useful, and maybe you can start using it:  FKLPF = fat kids love purple fudge.]

well, GTG so CYL8R, DYHABF/GF?  JK. ROFLBTCUTS.  jajajaja.

P.S.   forgot to ask, are u BR? juejuejuejue.

Next time ask about the emoji's!!!
