Should probably introduce myself.
« on: Mon, 09 February 2015, 21:43:42 »
I've been a lurker for awhile. I joined a year and a half ago, in order to find my first board. I ended up with a Majestouch-2 TKL, that has since been sold. I now own a Lexmark branded SSK, and as of this weekend, a Poker II. Future plans are a Nerd60, and hopefully some artisan collecting. I'm gonna do my best to be active and fit in. I'm not sure what else to include, but if you have questions, shoot them my way.

I already know how expensive this hobby is going to be, just have to convince the SO...

Thanks a lot. So far I'm doing pretty good. Hopefully I'll have the funds for a GON build soon.

This will, obviously, be my first. I'm really looking forward to it, just not the cost. I have an electronics background, so I don't think it will be too difficult. The end result will be the judge though.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Getting experience with different keyboards, layouts and switches is a very good idea.  Sounds like you are well on the way.

Does your SO use a computer?  Does she need a new keyboard?  What is your SO's favourite colour, and can you find a set of custom keycaps as added temptation?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

No she doesn't. She uses her iPad, and my PC, whenever she needs the internet.

I recently swapped from blues to clears, and she was pretty upset about the change. Turns out she was a huge MX blue fan. Might have to buy another.

Get her a mechanical keyboard with MX blues and a bluetooth adaptor so she can use it on her iPad!
