Using a Wyse WY60 with a Windows 7 PC?
« on: Thu, 19 February 2015, 15:49:43 »
Hi, I'm new here.

A while ago I picked up a Wyse WY60. It's pretty cool. The only problem I have is, even after numerous hours of web searches and browsing, I can't find a way to use it with my Windows 7 computer. I believe the keyboard us a 4p4c connector, which can be plugged into the computer's rj45 ethernet port. Is it possible to set the keyboard/computer to work with each other, and if so how? Sorry if it's obvious or anything, I'm kind of a total n00b. If any further information is necessary, I will be happy to provide it.

Thanks,
Matt

Soarer's WYSE Converter firmware should work with it.
You would have to get a Teensy 2.0 (or similar board with the right type of microcontroller on it), solder a 4P4C connector or cable to it and load the firmware onto it. If you don't install the converter inside the keyboard's case, then you might want to build a box for the controller also.

BTW. There are also people on the forum who lend their services if you don't want to/can't solder yourself.

Thanks for the help! I was wondering if this controller would work instead of the Teensy:

That A-Star 32U4 Micro board you link to would probably might work. In Soarer's documentation he lists a Atmega32u4 sold by Adafruit as compatible & the one you link to appears similar.

There's a link to download the documentation in the first post of this thread...
