aesop rock, murs, S.A. Smash

my favorite concert was rock the bells. wu tang, rage against the machine, the roots, cypress hill, felt, living legends, atmosphere.. but man.. the energy from wu to rage was insane.

i think me and clacktalk were at the same show too.
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

One of my teachers went to one of their concerts in the 50s-60s, and because it was their first tour, he wasted all of his film taking pictures of the opening act, as one of the ladies was very attractive, he claims. He was saying how that is one of his stupid mistakes in his life, wasting his film instead of taking pictures of The Rolling Stones.

I saw Foreigner at SummerFest when I was in middle school.  Would have been 2003 or 2004.

Jimmy Eat World at the Susquehanna Bank Center(formerly the Tweeter Center) in Camden, NJ in 2005.  I'll never forget that night, going to concerts has been one of my favorite things to do ever since.

"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

My cousin took me to see Def Leppard for my first concert in 1992.

However I usually count seeing Nirvana in 1994 on their "In Utero" tour as my first real concert.

ACDC for their Stiff Upper Lip tour in 2001. Seen hundreds of shows since and it's still one of the best things I've ever seen.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

The (original) Grateful Dead in 1995 or AC/DC around the same time. I'm not sure which I saw first.

The Rolling Stones weren't around in the 1950s.

If there's one feeling I could experience over and over again it's the moment the lights go down at a show, signaling the bands entrance is imminent.  It's a really cool sensation.

That's why I said 50s-60s. There isn't an exact date on the wikipedia page, just the general decades. And looking now, it was 1964 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_View_Park#The_1930s_to_the_1960s

I miss that feeling. Somewhere between gigging in my own band, attending gigs as a photographer and attending as a fan I just lost my love for seeing bands live. Got to be a big name for me to drag myself out, I think the last band I saw was Black Sabbath last time they were here. Getting old man!

They Might Be Giants at a bar in Fells Point, Baltimore. My dad drove my friend and I all the way downtown and the bouncer wouldn't let us in because we were underage. Someone inside saw this, and must have had pull, because he said we could see the show if we stood to the side of the stage. First concert ever, I felt so cool right then and there. Just some nerdy 13 year old kid hanging out in a bar downtown watching TMBG :D

"First" concert was Simple Plan on my senior trip.  I don't really count it though, since it was for Grad Night in WDW.  My first real concert was Vans Warped tour.  Got to see a lot of amazing bands, and a lot of really bad ones.

Some one at my highschool won a radio contest and some swedish boyband showed up one day. A teacher was standing right behind me and the second I started yelling that they sucked I felt the hand on my shoulder. Then I was escorted away through the back door. Still remeber the conversation after.

Teacher: I knew you would start some ****, why did you even show up?
Me: You said it was mandatory
Teacher gasps and look up at the sky
Teacher: Well that...
By now I had turned my back and was walking to the local MTG shop

First real concert was Gentleman at URF 2003 (among other reggea artists)

Were you already born then?
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Meat Loaf at Wembley in about '93. I was about 8, my dad took me and we were about 5 rows from the front. It was amazing, Brian May came out half way through the set and played "We will rock you".

My favourite was either the City Invasion tour in like 2007 which was a 1 day punk festival at (I think) the Astoria or Clutch at the Oxford Zodiac around the same time. I haven't been to a decent gig for years, really miss it :(.

Hatebreed/Mastodon/Slipknot/Slayer on the first Unholy Alliance tour at the Birmingham NIA. 2006 I think.

Slayer raining blood from the top of the stage during Reigning Blood was awesome.

Ok. Embarrassed to say my first was Richard Marx, circa 1986 (?).

Most embarrassing: Nelson, 1989?.

Most epic:  Guns n Roses, Metallica, Faith No More in New Orleans, 1993. 9 hours long!

Most memorable: Guns n Roses, Skid Row @Birmingham Race Course. 1992. In the mud.  No seats, so much crazy, several people trampled to death in the mud

Most enjoyable: Andrew Peterson Christmas Show @Ryman Auditorium. 2003.

So jelly.

I have only been to a few concerts.

First was George Thorogood and the Destroyers in high school, probably 98 or 99.

Next was Trans Siberian Orchestra, then the other one was Bobaflex at a local gig.

Concerts I would probably quit a job if  they told me I couldn't go see:  Metallica, Apocalyptica, Halestorm, and Rammstein would be on the top of the list.

If we're doing favorite concerts, it's a hard choice but I'd have to pick every time I've seen MuteMath.  The energy at their shows is unbeatable.

And it doesn't hurt that the singer/keyboardist, Paul Meany, walked out into the crowd and sang with me.  :D

I think the one for me that left the most lasting impression was RHCP on their Stadium Arcadium tour back in 07'.  Seeing John Frusciante absolutely blew my mind, I'm very happy I got to see him play in person before his departure from the band.

'87 was a good year in my metal youth.  Another good show was Dio, Megadeth and Savatage in December.

First concert I remember was Charlie Daniels. I don't really count it because my mom worked at a radio station and got free tickets so I got to see a few random bands.

First concert I went to on my own was a Rancid show in high school.  Still a favorite memory! My parents wouldn't let me go so I told them I was going to a church thing and went anyway. ha

I think my first, as embarrassing to say it, was Emery.  Great show, embarrassing music.  Oh high school.

The best concert I have ever been to was Los Campesinos!  The worst was probably seeing Yeasayer live in Seattle.  I love them on album...but they suck in person.

Confession time. I've been to NOT one but TWO Neil Diamond concerts. And they were awesome. He's such a great entertainer and performer. Haha.
I'm back.

1999... Squad 5-0 at the blue moon cafe in South Carolina!

They had a new drummer that didn't know Operation Ivy's Unite so all my friends chanted my name and they had me play drums for that one song!!!

Years later I was on the same label and got to do a few tours with them! Goodtimes!
