BlackWidow 2kro not workiing on Mac
« on: Fri, 06 March 2015, 09:33:27 »
Hi guys,

I've been lurking the forums for quite some time, and i finally decided to register because i really need help with this…

First of all, i know the BlackWidow sucks, but its a present from my wife, so i have to love it  ;D

Well, the thing is i have this BW since 2012-13. I never truly needed the 2kro so i never payed too much attention to it, but now i need this function and it does not work. Instead of typing "asasasasasasasa" it goes "asssssssssss".

At first i thought that the keyboard was lacking this functionality, but after a bit of search on this forums, i found a list where it says i has at least 2kro. Then i thought that maybe the keyboard was broken or something but then i tested it on this:

http://www.microsoft.com/appliedsciences/content/projects/KeyboardGhostingDemo.aspx

And it registers up to 6 keys. Some combinations do not work like AWSD+N, but well, i only need combinations of 2, so im starting to think that maybe its an OS thing rather than the keyboard.

I'm on OS 10.10 Yosemite. Of course i deactivated that bull**** "press and hold" feature that suggests you additional characters…

For now i don't have access to a windows computer, but as soon as i can i'll try it out.

In the meantime, any of you guys knows what it could be?

Many thnx in advance!

p.d. Sorry if my english is bad, it's not my first (and not even second) language : /

Character repeat behaviour and key rollover are not the same thing. Character repeat depends on the firmware of the board and the operating system. Expected behaviour on any board and OS is supposed to be "asssssss".

Windows will do "asasasasasas" if you plug in two keyboards and press a key on both  ("a" on one, "s" on the other). This will also happen if a keyboard has implemented the firmware in such a way as to appear as more than one device to the system in order to get more than 6KRO.

As far as I know (but I haven't tested it), all boards will do "asssssss" on MacOS.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

My BW was very susceptible to repeating characters. It has happened to it on at least two occasions as it has been pretty much in constant use for about 4 years. It depends on what mood the keyboard is in at the time :)
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?
