Dell AT101W slow boot up
« on: Mon, 16 March 2015, 23:09:51 »
I have never thought that a keyboard can slow down the boot process of a PC, but apparently my Dell AT101W does exactly that. After turning the PC on, the screen is completely blank for ~5 seconds, after that the keyboard is initialized (the keyboard LEDs turn on and off) and the boot process continues as usual. If I plug in any other PS/2 keyboard, it's initialized immediately after turning the PC on, without any annoying delays.

Is it normal? Or something is wrong with my AT101W?

Some motherboards will sit there for a while polling the USB devices; if one acts weird, it can cause a major delay in boot.  Not sure if it willl behave the same way with PS/2.,

This happens to me, I have an ASRock motherboard with AM3 CPU.
Now Senators are asking what, exactly, happened to the at least $63 million that Trump extracted from media and technology companies to settle his fake lawsuits against them.

It turns out that the fund set up to receive those millions, the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Fund, Inc., no longer exists — because of course it doesn’t.

I use a Gigabyte motherboard (Socket 1150). I just checked — none of my other keyboards cause any delay, so it's definitely unique to Dell AT101W
