I have a really nice Televideo board with white Hi-Teks and that 4P4C connector that I would dearly love to get running.

But, so far, not even Soarer's WYSE Converter will do the trick.

Anyone have any which of these are linear, tactile and clicky? The DT wiki is confusing on this point, to say the least xD .
Check my keyboard video reviews:

Posting here so I remember to check this again later. About time I revisited Space Invader boards

In general, white is linear, grey is tactile and black is clicky.  There have been a few odd exceptions to these general rules.

Have you gotten the Televideo 4P4C to work somehow?

I would love to get mine running.

You can always replace the controller with an Xwhatsit and diodes:
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=69394

Assuming there's a matrix there, you can probably just use the existing matrix assuming it's 16x8 or less.  Can be used without diodes if you don't need NKRO.

There’s no reason to use xwhatsit’s controller for non-capsense keyboards. Just use a Teensy, McHck, or $5 Chinese Arduino clone.

I was going to direct-wire mine, as jacobolus suggests.

It would be possible to make a controller if the protocol is on kbdbabel, but it's beyond my programming knowhow.

anyway the one I got has a mini-DIN connector so I think it's PS/2. One reason I got it instead of the others. The other reason is: clicky switches!

I don't want to spend hours on this project. All I know is that I have a beautiful (new) keyboard that I would like to be able to use, without rebuilding it, but it will not respond to Soarer's firmware.

And did I mention that it is true-ANSI layout?

I don' think I've ever seen a true ansi space invaders board, close but all have AT style enter key. Any pics?

The one we’re talking about is this one:

There’s also this other one of fohat’s:

The top one is the one that I want to use.

The oddball one on the bottom has good and bad points.

some people actually like those keycaps.

anyway, if you look at the PCB for that specific spaceinvaders board, it has places on the PCB for ANSI, but the plate and keycaps don't support it.

You can always unsolder the CPU that has the matrix pins going to it, and then run cables from those now holes to a teensy and use Soarer's Controller, rather than the Converter.

Turns out it has black linear spaceinvaders not clicky :(

on the plus side it's still pretty cool. After cleaning and lubing it it'll be a neat KB I think.

Note: it wasn't shipped very well. Just some tissue paper in a flat rate box. Since it wasn't damaged via shipping either I guess it's ok but I wouldn't trust it.

KB is excellent, sends 98 usable scancodes including all the usual ones. The tenkey is laid out a bid oddly but sends all the right codes. Nothing for LGUI RGUI LALT MENU LCTRL and SCRLK though.

Same here. And they didn't use enough paper. When I received the box, the keyboard slid back in forth in the box several inches, and the box was crushed and torn.

Theres no reason to use xwhatsits controller for non-capsense keyboards. Just use a Teensy, McHck, or $5 Chinese Arduino clone.

I like them for the simplicity of programming.  Haven't really seen any tutorials that are written for programming dummies.  The other reason to use the Xwhatsit would be for solenoid support.  Wired one up to a wheelwriter (2KRO without diodes) and it is very usable and easy to program.  Have been meaning to put an xwhatist with solenoid into an SSK which just happens to have a 16x8 matrix ;)
