The pre order is to help pay for the prototype so that everyone is confident they know what they're paying for!I hope it is a nice prototype then because that's a lot of money just for a prototype. I'm sure it would be easy enough to transfer the $40 non refundable deposit to someone else though just in case.Yeah you would be surprised how much a prototype costs with American manufacturers. I also need to pay for a PCB prototype. The pre order deposit can be transferable though as you said!

After the $40 pre order, how long should it be before I have to pay the rest? I'm broke and I need some time to scrape up the money. )
Do you have any details on the PCB? Will it support key leds? Will it use ps2avr, Or is it going to be an arm core teensy controller? Is the USB virtual or dedicated controller (I find the virtual to be far less reliable)?
Going to murder my budget for the foreseeable future, but I'm in 100%. Fingers crossed that I'll be able to reserve #18!
wish I could afford...
The shop quoted 6-8 weeks for he prototype. In the meantime I will work out the rest of he details so we can start the group buy soon after that barring any unexpected problems
Ergo clears don't top topres, not even close.

ooh i see. Also a question on the assembly service that will be provided for limited boards. Would we need to provide the materials (switches, leds, etc) or will they be included given that you pay for the cost of them?

Anything else would most likely need to be sent to us. As I said though, this hasn't been decided yet.
Super excited to put a down payment on this, gonna be my first custom board "and hopefully my last!"That's a slippery slope my friend ) the Mira does look pretty freaking nice though !

Since you're taking pre-orders next week does this mean you'll also have a physical prototype to show us?
I don't need anymore keyboards
Quote from: Data on Wed, 15 July 2015, 09:27:24Since you're taking pre-orders next week does this mean you'll also have a physical prototype to show us? The preorder money is to fund the prototype since it's expensive as ****. Think of it like Kickstarter except he isn't greasy and won't take the full 400 up front. But from previous posts he will have a prototype before the full thing starts.
To winkey or not to winkey, that's the question..
Will the plate allow for switch modding? One of the renders appears to have the switch moddable plate while another does not.Could you clarify? ( I apologize if this has already been answered in one of the previous posts)Thanks,-Blacke

I am also planning on joining the pre-order and I would much prefer winkey. On a side note, can someone explain to me why many people prefer winkeyless? What are the advantages? Good job on the project good luck having everything done.
Winkey 4 lyfe
Would prefer a winkey and 1.25u bottom row, but a winkey 1.5u bottom row would be acceptable. No winkey (and no fn key on the right) would be a deal breaker for me, unfortunately.
Do we have to put in a pre-order if we don't want a numbered one? I do understand there is only going to be up to 100, but if the pre-order doesn't reach 100 can we still get one when production occurs?
