I am going to be honest, that looks nothing like I expected it to. I wanted it to look like the header image on that article, but it looks very saturated...

Please remember this is a potato pic... the color has been translated from real life to a terrible cell phone camera and then back to your uncalibrated monitor... I have the actual color chip in front of me, it's definitely more saturated than the faded authentic set, but far less than shown in the potato pic. It's also got a lot more green in it than the GMK photo shows. Don't fret  :thumb:

Okay, I know that this was said about when you posted the color chip, but I just worry as I am excited for this, and I don't want to be disappointed.

Definitely, I don't want you to be disappointed either!!

Here is some really important info! I think you, and actually everyone, should read this.

I know I'm a broken record on this issue, but everyone MUST remember that colors you are seeing here are only a very, very rough approximation of real life!

Several times in this GB I have questioned whether I should stop posting pics altogether, since it's actually meaningless to talk about colors when we're all on different monitors. Worse than meaningless actually, because it makes people develop incorrect expectations.

Let's do a quick experiment to prove what I am saying: Below is a pic. I just took it using my Note 4 camera. The pic is me holding the real color chip next to my MacBook's screen showing a scan of the same color chip. They don't look the same AT ALL, do they? And furthermore, the real color chip doesn't actually look like either of the representations in this photo. And how this pic looks on my phone is different than how it looks on my MacBook, which is again different from how it probably looks on YOUR monitor. And all these colors look different than what's in GMK's photo, too, even though in real life they are all the same.

Moral of the story - digital representations of color are extremely misleading. Get hyped about the sets coming off the production line, imagine how juicy they are going to be, but don't get particularly angry or attached re: any specific color you see on your screen. I spent over $800 buying color chips to find the best colors I possibly could - I think you guys will be happy with the final results IRL.

I am also worried about the color, but I'll like it either way :)

Just wish I would have bought two sets as I planned, just didn't have the cash :(

Thank you for your devotion to spreading this knowledge.  Personally, even though I know it to be true, I sometimes forget that it's the case.  It's easy to get caught up and freak out about the colors of something you've bought sight-unseen.  But this is a good reality check.   :thumb:

this is probably a dumb question, and has probably been answered somewhere in this thread, but... what are the actual GMK codes for this set?

Only the modifier legends use a stock GMK color (2M). The other colors are all Pantone colors.

I may be wrong, but if everything I read on this and on the IC threads are true, there won't be a "next time" for this set.

This was one of the most successful keyset group buys ever run, I do believe. More than 1000 sets out there in the world, once everything is said and done. I'm sure people's extra sets will turn up in the classifieds, not everyone will want this set forever. If you watch and wait long enough, I'm sure you will be rewarded.
Please PM me if you are waiting on classifieds approval or have a question about the classifieds rules. | geekhack Terms of Service

i thought the same thing but someone knowledgeable told me otherwise. apparently massdrop costs make it unfeasible to resell these sets at a higher vendor price that would still attract buyers

I wonder if the white spacebar from the JT set group buy will match this set... I really want to put this set on my HHKB, if I can find someone to sell it to me, once I get some funds.

Or maybe the white pbt topre spacebar will match well enough.

Hooray! :D
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

there's a site called computeruniverse.net or something (it's German). They might still sell beige cherry g80s. It ships from Germany though, so shipping might suck.
