Best place to buy cables?
« on: Mon, 07 September 2009, 04:46:36 »
Hi guys, I need to buy some longer DVI cables and some PS/2 keyboard and mouse extension cables. Anybody know of a good mail order shop that sells internationally and has good products?

Thanks.

You don't want to buy cables internationally. Give us your location, maybe someone knows of a suitable shop in your country.
Essentially, cables are cheap (long DVI cables, however, can get mildly expensive), so huge international shipping costs won't be worth it unless you're going to buy thousands of cables directly from the factory in China.

Thanks for your post.

I'm sure nobody knows of a good shop here, I have seen the big shops and we only get the cheapest of Chinese junk over here. Then again maybe the only cables nowadays are made in China...

It would actually be better for me to buy over the internet, that's what I have to do any time I want anything good.

Sure, but it's a difference to get okay, but horribly overpriced cables for 50 Euros locally, to buy decent cables online for 20 Euros or to get the best deal in the Universe on cables for 10 Euros and pay 50 Euros in shipping and taxes because you're buying from some bloke in Antarctica.

International shipping costs make buying almost anything not worthwile. They'll be a large factor in your calculation and will totally ruin the price for you. So, which country are you in? National online shops could well stock exactly what you'd like.

We buy a lot of stuff over the internet because a lot of stuff we simply can't buy any other way. With technology we usually pay 2 to 4 times what the Americans do and get 1/2 or 1/4 of the quality. So it is much cheaper in the end to order internationally and that's what I do.

Even if the customs bastards do their tax and grab it's still usually a much better deal than buying locally.

I'm in a small Asian country, we have no national shops. So back to my original question! Thanks.

If you're in the US, monoprice.com is a good place for some cheap, quality, cables.

EDIT: You beat me to it.  Since you aren't in the US, I don't know.
