Converting a PS/2 board to wireless
« on: Mon, 07 September 2009, 11:41:35 »
Have searched around a fair bit for info on this, found some on here and elsewhere that seemed mildly promising (using a chip from here seems the most likely way forward).

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had managed to do this or has any suggestions? Have just ordered an IBM Model M13 that I would love to make wireless if it's at all possible.

Cheers!

Wow, what a disgusting person...

Anyway, thanks for the USB info. I might just end up building some kind of stand that would also hide the wire but I would much prefer this if it is possible...

What's wrong with the wire? It just makes the keyboard more reliable.

Old PS/2 keyboards take quite a bit of power, the batteries wouldn't last long.

I would agree with this most of the time.  I rarely see the point of getting a wireless keyboard when there is a wired version available.  Having a wireless keyboard for an HTPC setup is absolutley necessary, though, and there aren't very many good ones out there.

Don't know anything about Broadcom's chip

RF is kind of a black art, its not something that would be easy to do from scratch, even with a fair bit of electronics knowledge.  Unless you can find something off the shelf, you're probably SOL.

Fair enough, I'll probably give up on this one. Main reason I wanted it wireless was purely to have the clean, unwired desk look, but I'll have to cope with a solitary wire or hide it :)
