Mionix Naos 7000 on Massdrop again
« on: Fri, 10 April 2015, 01:50:32 »
so, subject title is self explanatory

https://www.massdrop.com/buy/mionix-naos-7000

I'm having trouble to decide if i should buy this, my hands are not huge but i neeed a decent palm grip mouse. I'm currently using a Logitech Anywhere MX that ain't that bad but it's not for gaming or long hours of use.

I'm also interested in the Logitech G502 Proteus Core since Logitech has given me superb Costumer support with the first Anywhere MX that started giving double click problems in the left microswitch. And the Roccat Kone XTD looks amazing too... so... choices, choices, choices.

Wow, these are awesome mice—highly ergonomic, hi-res (7K dpi), fast (onboard ARM CPU), millions of LED options, seven programmable buttons... It's an excellent value at full price, and this is 20% below the best price I could find anywhere else. Seems like a no-brainer.

It is really tempting. And since they don't sell em in my country (Tacoland) i could sell it at a decent price if i get fed up with it. REALLY tempting.  :p

Why does all 'gaming' hardware have to be so ugly?

Is the DPI on this thing adjustable? I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to switch between 6.4k (what I currently use) and 7k, but ideally I'd like to set both to 6.4k.

It is, it has 3 customizable levels.

Function over aesthetic?  Which mouse would you consider beautiful?

I have friends that venerate the Apple mouse which I consider it has inferior ergonomics to a simple 🐭 like the Microsoft intellimouse models and it doesn't really glide smoothly, it has a lot of drag on most surfaces.

So... not fully customisable? That's disappointing.

That Apple mouse is garbage.

my problem with pricey mice is they usually only last me about a year before the button gives out.  so i usually just go for something cheap.

What do you mean specifically? You can replace the microswitches when they give up. And since you are already doing the effort you can upgrade them for some Japanese made Omrons (which I'm already waiting for a shipment). You'll be able to use the mouse for at least one more year per switch change (since the Japanese ones are better made than the Chinese that every OEM uses, I'll bet way more than that). It should require only a simple soldering job.

If you have any unused pricey mouse you don't want to repair (I would call it maintenance)  please send it my way, so I can replace the switches, test it and if it doesn't fit my needs or taste I can donate them to some charity or NGO. I'm in under developed Mexico. If you do decide to repair them it would be awesome anyways, you will save money and reduce your contribution to our beautiful planet's pollution.

It's not ugly. It's sinister-looking. Like the Batmobile. Try saying "I'm Batman" with a soft, pretty voice. It doesn't work.

What's wrong with it? I've seen several people commenting on grabbing  a new one because their preceding one is dying or giving up but they never mention the specific cause of failure.

I'll buy it tomorrow anyways, it's a nice promotion.

Nothing's really wrong with it.  Some of the rubberizer is peeling and on occasion the sensor decides to track oddly, but that's due to dust or something getting on the sensor lens.  I just know the 7200 uses a better sensor and it's time for an upgrade.

You should try it out, don't leave any learning you can do today for tomorrow. Tomorrow we'll all be skulls.  :))
