Making a custom matrix Electrocapacitative board
« on: Fri, 01 May 2015, 10:25:18 »
Many geeks should be aware that I use matrix layouts.

Recently I have heard about how the Royal Kludge has really shaken up the Topre market. Now we can get MX sliders for under $1. That made me curious about whether it is possible to construct a matrix capacitative PCB, put the Kludge sliders on it, and have a custom split layout matrix Topre ergodox.

There are tons of Topre fans in the world and they often talk about modding their sliders and springs. Why has no one tried making his own custom split layout Topre yet? The only thing like that in the market is the mutron.
Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.

Are Topre rubber domes and switch assemblies available separately, or would you have to cannibalize an existing keyboard?

You would have to salvage an existing board.
