Quickfire XT vs Quickfire Ultimate?
« on: Fri, 08 May 2015, 17:51:37 »
I was thinking about getting a new keyboard ~100$ and I narrowed it down to these two/maybe three. Which should I go with?

http://gaming.coolermaster.com/en/products/keyboards/quickfireultimate/
http://gaming.coolermaster.com/en/products/keyboards/quickfirext/
and maybe http://ozonegaming.com/product/strike-battle/

I read that the xt have better keycaps than ultimate, so... What do you guys think about this keyboards? Which is best quality?

looks like the XT has a standard bottom row whereas the ultimate does not, so if you plan on putting custom keycaps on there you'd be much better off with the XT.  never heard of the ozone before but it's got an aluminum case which is nice.

you might want to take a look at deals currently available on massdrop before making a decision, too.

Well, shipping from massdrop to my country cost ~25$ so I dont think it's worth to "buy" on this site.

Yea I got it.
Another question - what you think about XT vs Ducky Shine 3? It's worth to pay almost 2x more (in my country) to get Ducky?
Is the quality between those two models really significant? The functionality is almost the same ;x Will Ducky last for few more years?

do you want to pay double for leds?
Ducky quality will be slightly better, but both of those will outlive them if you treat them well.
And leds tends to fail on some boards anyway.

I don't care much about backlighting so I suppose Ducky isn't for me ;p
Any others user opinions?

I would say definitely XT, XT is a costar made board so solid build quality and costar stabilizer (feels better in my opinion).

While quickfire ultimate has non standard bottom row also I can't say for it personally but generally people don't trust iOne build quality.

As for Ducky it's not bad you just have to pay more also cherry stabilizer feels mushy.  I guess you have to decide if it's worth it for the back-lit.

Personally I'd pick the XT.

Hope this helps.  :)

And what you think about Ozone strike battle? If we compare this to CM storm xt?

The XT is a much better board than the Ultimate.

The height of the Ultimate, as well as the non standard spacebar size are reason enough not to get it.

I haven't used any Ozone boards before, so not sure how good they are..  I prefer the look of the Ultimate / Quickfire Rapid.

Btw. dudes what do you think about swiches? Which are best for gaming? Isn't brown "perceptible jump" too frustrating?

Yeah I don't have any experience with Ozone, but I heard they were not bad.

But XT feels more like tested and proven.  As for switch I like I like MX Brown a bit better for typing and MX Red a bit better for gaming.

They're both well rounded all around switch.  It's up to preference but maybe decide if you like linear or tactile lol.

At some point Coolermaster was selling a switch tester so you can figure out which switch you prefer, and then the price of the tester is a coupon for a coolermaster keyboard. Not sure if they still do.

i just got mine from mechkb. The official cm store is somehow sold out, but i wasn't buying it for the coupon, just to play with. My kids get much amusement from it, as do I haha. I am still unsure about greens on the whole board, but to me for w/e reason the blacks felt heavier than the greens which makes no sense based on the numbers I've seen (60 black vs 80 green).

Today fianally I got my XT ;D Tommorow I'll probably change the wsad keycaps to the reds from cm storm.
I got the brown switches, and I like them. I don't really feel this "tacticle bump" ;)
Thanks guys for your help :)

as a former brown user converted to clears, only the clears have the tactile bump. Still the XT and cm's browns are great, I just use it at work now, enjoy.

I set the ratio on 1ms and  I couldn't wrote normally then ;d
8 ms is normally rate in keyboards (I think) so I'll use this.

if you compare them to reds or blacks, you'll definitely feel a difference.  the bump on browns is subtle, but it's definitely there.
