Modded Plasti-dipped Quick Fire TK
« on: Wed, 13 May 2015, 16:37:49 »
Been messing with some simple mods to my daily driver Quick Fire TK over the past year or so.
Finally done, so here are some shots (in case anyone finds it interesting).

-----

Switches:

Status LEDs:

Didn't have any 2x3x4 LEDs, so i've filed 5mm round ones.
Fits perfectly.

Dipped with Anthracite Metallic Plasti-dip:

Will see how well it holds up.
Made sure to coat it pretty thick.

Finally, some o-rings:

Experimented with different nitrile o-rings, ended up using two per-stem.
Squishier ring near the bottom, harder ring above it.

Sounds weird, but works for me.

Sweet plastidip. I always thought mat finishes looked the best but apparently not.

The keycaps are very fitting for your case.

Sweet plastidip. I always thought mat finishes looked the best but apparently not.

I originally wanted to paint it a very rough matte (zinc-like) metallic.
Then saw the anthracite plasti-dip sample and realized it's a shade very similar to Dolch gray keycaps and went with that.
