My Ducky Mini YoTH
« on: Fri, 05 June 2015, 01:53:59 »
I recently started learning to code and so to touch type and my researching led me to mechanical keyboards. My current board is a Ducky Mini YoTH edition with white translucent PBT key caps and clear 1.5mm o rings.

I am programming in EMACS, so I got a 60% to rid me of the temptation to stray too far from the home row. I love the look and feel of the keyboard, though I am still up in the air about the o rings. They seem to make my typing more accurate but they take away the lovely clack I used to hear and it's very mushy when I bottom out. My wife programmed in some custom lighting modes...

I have a model M incoming but no idea what condition it's going to be in. Hopefully good:

My next endeavour is to get an artisan keycap and a PBT DSA set. I also think that a HHKB may lie in my future.

Nice, clean and simple :)

The Model M, whatever condition it is in, should almost certainly be revived to be almost as good as new.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Really clean looking YOTH, the heart-shape lighting is awesome. Nice work.  :thumb:

YOTH looks sweet with white blanks! I may have to swap out my current set for some blanks :)

What an adorable board, and lighting config :) First time seeing the Ducky Mini, or else I mustn't have been paying attention to Ducky's offerings. Neat little 60%, and looks so much better with the blank white caps.

Glad you guys like the Ducky. It was exactly how I wanted a keyboard to look but after looking around these forums some more, I have the keyboard purchasing fever good and proper. It reminds me a bit of catching pokemon, except there are far more keyboards for me to catch. That doesn't even take into account key sets and artisan caps. I have a feeling I am gonna be hooked for life now.
