Do you know anything about Exact Audio Copy ?
« on: Tue, 09 June 2015, 10:05:25 »
I have a recent install of Exact Audio Copy and I cannot get it to rip CDs to .MP3 at higher than 192 bits.

I have gone into settings and set them to 320 bit, and it seems to register (still set at 320 afterwards) but the final rips themselves do not exceed 192 (usually they vary from song to song in the 180-192 range).

*Also, off-topic but related, I have used Imgburn in the past for burning, but when it opens now, all the options are grayed out.

As I remember, there is no direct audio CD burning, but in the past I was able to make an .ISO image and burn that, but not now.

My immediate project is that I just got a remastered audiophile CD and I want to burn a copy to use in my car, but I want to solve this for future work.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

For burning audio I use CDBurnerXP, can't comment on EAC haven't used it in a long time.

In this case can you just make an iso image of the disc and burn that image versus ripping tracks? Or maybe I'm missing something.

Are you a what.cd member? They have a step by step guide. If not I can grab some screenshots of the guide and upload it.

There used to be a REALLY good one on some blowfish website, but it seems the domain is no longer active and sadly I didn't save the tutorial. That's how I got my setup going a couple of years ago and it's worked perfectly since.

Doing a quick DuckDuckGo search brings me the following article, and it seems to be pretty good (even references the comprehensive blowfish tutorial):
