TKL or 108 with custom layer support
« on: Wed, 10 June 2015, 12:50:23 »
Sorry in advance for the dumb question, I've been looking around and I don't know if I just have the wrong terminology but I'm struggling to find what I'm looking for.

Basically, I got an ergodox and got addicted to the multilayer firmware with layer modifier keys and such, but my thumbs are killing me and I need(would prefer) dedicated FKeys for work, so I was looking into getting a TKL with similar multi-layer support. I found the TMK firmware and infinity but the infinity while it is close to what I want, is still missing the FKeys and I haven't figured out if there are TKL keyboards out there without building a custom PCB that I could throw TMK on.

All the information on here while great is a little daunting especially when I haven't fully gotten the grasp of everything yet, so I thought I'd ask to just maybe be pointed in the right direction of keyboards that have multi-layer capabilities or that can support being flashed with TMK or something. Gon was a candidate but after doing research the lead time looks shaky on his shop right now so I'm waiting until he either slows down or I know I'm not going to make a mistake on what I actually want.

Thanks

One way to do it would be to buy a keyboard that one of bpiphany's controllers would fit.

Probably the fastest & cheapest route would be a Coolermaster QuickFire Rapid & a Frosty Flake. Some folks *cough* like me *cough* have had quality issues with QuickFire keyboards, though.

Oh, I didn't know his controllers were readily available. That sounds like an ideal route for now, thanks. Gotta go read up on the Masjestouch TKL and Quickfire and get one ordered and contact him. Thanks a lot for the information.

Thanks man, I really appreciate the assistance. Turns out I completely forgot I still have a first generation QFR with blues sitting here doing nothing. Forgot this thing wasn't a 60%, might as well put it to use. Plus I like blues anyway.
