I wasn't thinking of the HG Japan but the standard HG (without Urushi lacquer) which has an Aluminum case produced in small quantities.
Too bad you can't get them any more I would love to have one of them.
I'd pay USD 75 for a build-it-yourself keyboard kit, as much for the fun of building as for the keyboard
I thought they were made when ordered. Have read that somewhere.

Well, considering that Cherry can sell a keyboard for $65 which contains all the parts, PLUS labor to assemble it and testing, I'd say, they could toss all the parts in a box before the assembly step and ship it out the door for $75 easily.
The letters are lasered after assembly.
