Anyone had experience with WASD's RMA process?
« on: Fri, 12 June 2015, 02:49:08 »
I ordered a WASD V2 104-key keyboard w/ Cherry MX Blues a few days ago, though I'm quite displeased with the quality. The key switch quality seems to vary vastly from switch to switch, more so than I've ever seen before. Some keys feel perfectly normal, but others require more force (but still click), don't click (but still feel fine), or don't click and require significantly more force to depress. The Y, T, G, B, and Down Arrow keys are the worst of the bunch. I'm definitely going to have to RMA this thing, either for a replacement or I'll simply return it (hopefully I can fight the restocking fee because I didn't make any modifications to the keycaps).

It seems weird that the whole keyboard feels funky, not just a few keys. It makes typing on it very fatiguing very quickly. I worry that the replacement, should I choose to go down that path, will feel the same.

Has anyone had a similar WASD experience recently? Has their quality control gone down hill? Can anyone speak for how smooth the RMA process went if they've been through it?

This makes me very sad as I've owned a WASD V1 (w/ Blues) for a few years now; its easily my favorite keyboard out of every keyboard I own and/or have tried. Every key switch is perfect, none feel different than others, and they have been since the day I got it. I've also referred several friends to WASD over the years as well. I was super excited to get the new V2 as I needed an additional keyboard for a new project, too!  :(

I have no experience with WASD but sounds like they were sold a bad batch of switches, which could happen to anyone.

Why not drop them an e-mail and ask if they're willing to test a replacement before sending it out?  I can't see them refusing if they're worthy of the good rep they have :)

Yeah, I'm definitely going to shoot them an email tomorrow! I just figured I'd see if anyone had recently had a similar issue or anything. I'll report back as soon as I get a response, too.
