i'll be interested to know how you guys like it mike ;)  Its a neat board, I would have loved it if it had kept up with my typing.

I think it's the same deal posted earlier.

But THESE have better gold plated USB connectors for even better N-key performance
.

well, this particular deal started today, but yes it is pretty much the same as the previous one.
the gold plated connector should increase her typing speed by 62% also.
crap, hope that doesnt make her fast enough to have some of the issues other fast typers have had with this kb...

Hell, when I used the M1, the gold plated connector improved the connection so much that it was sending characters to the PC faster than I could type them.

I've heard the gold connector autocorrects transposition errors.

Winner.

They actually had it at $25+shipping about a month ago. Even at $25, it's marginal at best since you can get a very decent condition, if not new model M on ebay, if you have patience. Unfortunately, I bought one when it first came out, for $55!! hehe. bleh. What a disappointment.

I think I actually paid closer to $70 for one a while back.  Mine is the older model that looks more like the Filco than it does now.

the gold connector is supposed to add the equivalent of another core to your cpu. or close to it anyway.

i think comparing this kb to model m is an apples/oranges thing - different switch & kb design.

Yeah, but I think your money will be better spent on the M.  From what I've heard, though, this 'board has changed a little since I bought mine, and I am forming my opinion based on the 'boards I have, so YMMV.

the abs will be here tomorrow so its a moot point now. while i wouldnt mind trying a bs kb just for reference, dont think i could stand the noise, if i remember the sound correctly.
you get the 'vers1' kb whatever your name is?  ;)

besides that the keys on the bs would have been heavier than the abs, and I dont think its too sexist of me to observe that of the few women who have been on the site, most (all actually, but i'm hedging) have preferred lighter keys than bs.

and im still a newbie as far as kb goes so any post with more info is good imo.

It always cracks me up how Geekhackers keep piling on the keyboard suggestions after the OP says he's just bought something.

You guys need to learn from waiters and waitresses.  The proper response is, "Good Choice!".  (my only excuse is I didn't know he bought it).

Likewise, I plead ignorance!

In any event, I would love to sell my M1, just need to find someone with enough motivation to agree to buy it, and come by and package it, and ship it to themselves. bleh, am such a procrastinator

the abs arrived earlier. fit & finish is ver nice, the key action is definetly different from my legend tactile. while the keys(on the abs) actuate very easily-there seems to be some differences between keys but nothing major- depressing them past that point takes a little more effort than my cherry clears(whites damnit;)). i also had to adjust the repeat speed for the kb due to the sensitivty of the keys, was very easy to get dbl/trpl hits. all good now.
not that any of that matters, the ONLY thing that matters is what my wife thought... and she likes it!! she spent about 25 mins typing on it & was quite pleased,. think she will like it even more once she gets used to it(i know i am with my legend).
my wife is very frugal, so just to make sure she wasnt being nice to me in saying she liked it, i asked her if she would like one for work. she actually hesitated before she said no!... means she was really considering it.
anyway, apears to be a good buy & is something that seems like it will last for years. thx for all the help/info, especially wellington.
think when i get taxes next year going to have to look at the cherry blue filco... for her of course:)
kinda curious to see how its 'action/feel' is compared to the 2 kb we have.

obviously. just dont know how u guys got me to ingest it... kinda scary.  ;)

that abs kb sure is 'springy', it has more bounceback than my clears(still look white...). i asked my wife if she thought it could tire out her hand/fingres & she said 'nope'. so non-issue i guess.
