[IC] Cherry MX Lock switch
« on: Mon, 22 June 2015, 17:44:56 »
Group Buy is now here, this thread is locked.

Google Form

These switches are MX Lock switches, a Cherry switch that locks upon press, and unlocks upon the second press. We are ordering MX1A-31NN, or plate mount MX Lock switches.

I will be contacting Cherry personally and any distributors that I can find that will carry it.

MOQ is 100, pricing @ 100 is $6/switch, pricing @ 500 is $5.20/switch

I'm not sure about lead times, since nobody has them in stock, and this is a very rare switch.

I will be handling shipping and logistics.

Shipping is $3.50 First Class or $5.50 Priority Mail in the US, probably about $5-6.

I have contacted a few distributors, and right now only one has gotten back to me. They apparently have 4,790 switches in stock, not sure how accurate that is. According to their rep, pricing from here would be $6 per switch for 100 switches, or $5.20 per for 500 switches.

Pricing(updated when I hear back from suppliers/distributors)

$6 <----- We are here

$5.20 <----- About 200 more to get to here, thanks Jack!

We are not ordering directly from Cherry, I think we will be ordering from a surplus electronics store called "C Plus Electronics", see their website

Right now we're looking at $5.20/switch(ouch) if we can hit 500 switches...

I would buy up to 20 if the price is a little better. Hopefully we can reach MOQ.

Someone should make a 60% using these switches, lubed, custom Korean springs :)

7bit has been trying to reach MOQ on these for a very long time on DT. Most of us have tried to help him out.

I'm aware of 7bit's group buy, but he seems very occupied with Round 5, and he hasn't released numbers for the MOQ, so it doesn't seem that much progress is being made, which is why I decided to start gauging interest

We have already met MOQ, but it's a bit expensive. Still waiting to hear from more suppliers on prices.

I agreed you, Kevin. MX lock is great for Fn position. So I only need 1 switch for a board.

Edit: Nonetheless im in for 10. I'll get in for more if you get them at a more reasonable price

Right, that's the group but I mentioned above that hasn't reached MOQ.

If there were ever any sold it was years ago so not really relevant now.

I just got an email back from Cherry saying MX Locks are discontinued, and were years ago. Anyways, I've decided to open up the group buy when we hit 300 switches. Hopefully we can get to the 500 mark and pay $5.20 a switch. I'm still talking with suppliers though, so the price may go down :)

So if I swapped my left shift switch with one of these, I would no longer have to hold it down in games? Just press it once and forget about it? :)

Yes, but you'd need to press it again to release it.
