In need of some Phantom Firmware help.(teensy 2.0)
« on: Sat, 18 July 2015, 15:49:59 »
So i've just finished all the soldering and everything on my Phantom (ansi125). i've downloaded a firmware from Here and successfully installed it. i think. i mean, I'm using the keyboard right now.

a couple things i cant wrap my head around is, setting up something to deactivate or lock the windows keys, and changing the LED brightness. I've tried to use "Easy Keymap". but i cant seem to figure out how to set up a combo like "Fn/Menu" + "Pause" keys to lock the win keys.
as far as the LEDs go i can live with them. i think it might just be the LEDs tho because they're not very bright.

the main thing is the locking the windows key atm. anyone know where i can find a firmware for the phantom board with a win lock set up?

Do you mean EasyAVR?

In that you would need to make a new layer (FN) which is used while you hold FN, then on that layer change the menu key to FN2, then on layer 2 set a key to be win lock.  I could do it for you but it would be better if you understood so you can tweak it later :)

i seem to be having troubles with this. key keyboard works fine other than the Menu+Tab(winlock on layer 2)

default layer, nothing changes. Fn layer, i set the menu key to "Fn 2". layer 2, i've set tab to Win Lock. All the other keys on that layer are blank. i hit save, build firmware. then i hit the button on the teensy, upload the .hex file, click program, click reboot.

while holding the menu key i hit tab. windows start menu still pops up

I've tried other keys, but its still not working

not sure what this means but, in the verbose information window for the teensy im getting this,
Error: can't open file 'C:\Users\MyName\Desktop\Phantom1.elf' (error 2: the system cannot find the file specified.)
is there sapose to be a .elf file created along with the .hex file?

Hang on, you only held the menu key?  You said FN + Menu + random key (now known as tab)  Try that!

So i have it working now. i can disable and re-enable it windows keys. so what i've done is....

Layer: "default"   - Menu key changed to "Fn". which eliminates the menu key all together.
Layer: "FN"         - Delete key changed to "Fn 2". keeps the functionality of the delete key until i hold the new "Fn" key.
Layer: "Layer 2"  - Tab key set to "Win Lock". again keeps the functionality of tab until "Fn" + "Delete" are held down

So the fact that the Menu Key is totally replaced by Fn, doesn't really bother me. i never used it anyway. but out of curiosity, is this how you achieve accessing the other layers? by eliminating the original functionality of a key?

Is there any reason you don't just put win lock on the FN layer?

Most boards using layers are 60% (or less) layouts which have an extra key somewhere for FN to avoid loosing a key, but you can work around it - change your FN key to be a tap key (Mode, top middle of the window) and select SC_APPLICATION (menu) in the box next door.

This makes it so if you press menu then don't press another key it sends menu, but if you press menu then something else it doesn't send menu.

You need to set Delete as Fn2 on Layer 2 as well.
Also you can set Menu to be menu when pressed and released on it's own, and Fn when used as a modifier.
Try this dat (It's yours, with my suggestions added.)

ahhhhh ok! thanx to your help i have it now!

enabled the tap mode to the menu key, now it has both functions. i can tap it for the original function, and hold it while i press tab. moved win lock off "Layer 2" to the "Fn layer".
i just might be getting the hang of this!  :))

thnks for hold my hand through this!
