So, does all this prove there's no point in getting insurance?  Seems like usps wasn't ever going to pay.

I mean, they we're more helpful after I said it was insured. But yeah the payout would've been a rough process.

The only thing I would recommend would be to write the return and delivery addresses both directly on the box, and on the wrapping. That way, if the wrapping were to come off again, at least the addresses would be on the box for the post office to be able to deliver. Not sure if you will know the customs number before wrapping the box, but if known, write that as well.

I recommend buying a flight to Malaysia to personally pick up and hand carry the board back to your home. If you happen to leave the board in the bathroom or on the plane, that's on you. No more USPS **** ups.

Please pack in a tight and fit box in Round 2!
I have bought and packed a lot of Korean boards. Nothing is wrong with the oackaging.

The box is fine. It's the wrap that is bull****. If you put the address on the cardboard itself, it will get there even if the wrap gets cut off.
the box and packaging is ****.

Can we stop this.

The wrap was required and our addresses were on the box itself, that's why it was found. The board is still safe. End of story.

yuktsi, for the sake of the board, I have to share this tip.

Go to mailbox.etc - they are everywhere in malls in KL. You can buy postage friendly boxes of all shapes from them. Some of them can fit a keyboard just nice and you DON'T NEED to wrap them when sending. I have sent many packages and 2 keyboards international before, so I am not sure which post office you went to that insisted on wrapping. I am not even using Pos Laju or any of those EMS services. Just your good old post office and never once they have asked me to wrap. Specifically I use post office in One Utama and the one in Damansara Jaya. If you are anywhere near this area, go to these post offices.

This is a truly harrowing experience and hopefull my 2 sen is of any help.

I agree as far as large box goes. It is insanely expensive as well. I didn't know about volumetric weight as far as DHL goes and the bill was 400$. Now, other shipping agencies won't be as expensive, but also if packaged properly you don't need that large of a box. I could have gotten away with a much smaller box. Soft cell foam really helps with making the box to a smaller size, as it helps absorb any thing that might hit it. As far as expensive boards go, this is my protocol: wrap board in something so it doesn't scratch. Then a layer or two of bubblewrap. then soft cell foam around it. Then I fill the space w/ a mix of soft cell foam and bubblewrap on the sides, and then if the top is still low, you use those air bags. It costs more as far as shipping supplies go, but the buyer would be more happy paying 5-10 for shipping supplies so it arrives safely.

I think the blaming game should stop already, everyone at this moment should be aware how important packaging is for expensive keyboard. The wrap is required by the post office, so Yuktsi did what he had to, wrap it again and again. If all that are still not enough, that's all about the luck I guess. It's not always that easy to get new boxes around, so be a little more considerate while bashing about the bad packaging. It's not the first time he ship expensive boards out. Just my 2cent.

Edit: Glad to hear the board is finally found

I'm not blaming Yuktsi at all. I think the wrap is a ****ty requirement. Because if it gets damaged then you've got nothing to go off. It something that will get easily damaged and will come off if the hole is big enough.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

I think USPS opened the box.

Because. There is no way nobody notices large enough damage on the wrap for it to fall off a box of that size. There is no way the brass plaque "falls off" the board and the bolts get lost.

USPS opened the box because of two different metals look strange on their xrays. They unbolt the brass plaque to see if there is anything hidden under there. There isn't, but they lose the bolts, the wrap somehow manages to find it's way back into the system, and the box gets returned to sender because that was the only address they could see on it.

Leave the plaque unbolted I would say. Put the bolts in a baggie. Wrap them all separately. Addresses on box. Addresses on wrap. Job done.

Sounds about right to me, kinda ****ty they wouldn't rewrap it but I'm not surprised. I'm not worried about the screws, finding new metric flat heads will be easy. Just relieved that the board has been found undamaged and is back on it's way to me.

Right. I think so.
They might think the brass was gold bar.

Anyways... I found the bolts in the box.
Fortunately.. There are no damages and scratches.

Honestly.. I don"t like 456.
So.. I will send it to someone in US.
Sorry yuksi..
Send to me again... another keyboard (not 456)

I found one damages edge.
**** me... :blank:

Where? Can you get a close up? If its on the bottom I'm fine but if it's on the top USPS will pay for it.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

Bottom, check near the bar, on the left edge, barely noticeable

Great.

All I wanted was an undamaged ****ing keyboard. How hard is that to find. Now this thread turns into watching USPS jerk me around for months trying to avoid paying for the damage they've done. I'll probably just sell the board now.

I doubt it happened while the board was in transit, I bet the damage occurred when the customs workers just tossed it all back in the box because "it's not ours so why should we care". I'm really not in the mood for your immature **** demik.

They might think the brass was gold bar.

So someone saw it was insured for 1k, opened it to see what's inside, noticed the brass plates on the back and unscrewed it thinking it was gold?

How could you ever ship anything valuable using USPS?

Wait.

Why is a board shipped from Malaysia to Chicago in Korea now?

I've been wondering that as well. Isn't kin25's board seperate from Joey's?
