Must. Learn. How. To. Keycap...
« on: Thu, 06 August 2015, 01:07:18 »
Hello there!

I own a Ducky Legend Red Switch and wishes to own all the cool personalized keycaps in the world (goodbye my wallet...) my only problem is there seems to be a scarcity of it from where I live.

As of now I'm trying to learn how to make my own but it has been difficult. One day I'll share my pain (no successes yet) and hopefully be able to make really good designs.

I really need friends and mentors who could lead me to the right way in making awesome keycaps ;D in return, I promise not to be weird.. what.  :thumb:

Welcome to Geekhack!

A good place to start reading is here.  There are lots of links there, including a few on making your own keycaps.

There is a wealth of knowledge here on just that subject, so don't be shy about asking questions or sharing pictures of your first keycaps, whether they turn out well or not.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

First off I had already written this yesterday but forgot to post :x nice strength you have there :p I'm a nendoroid collector so it's nice to see another I think anyway O.O

Also maybe if you say where you are from we can help you find somewhere to buy keycaps from?

Otherwise enjoy your stay!

Hello there! *waves*

It's so nice to see another nendo collector! ^^ I just started but the collection is building up fast and I'm not really sure if I'm be happy about that XD

I'm from the Philippines and I've tried searching online. I could barely find a Ducky here lol I'm happy to be here in this forum though cos it genuinely is a community of helpful collectors. So for now, I'm on my way to making my own keycap. I just have to have the courage to show it to you guys :D

Thank you for the warm welcome!

:p You are happy to buy all the nendoroids you are *Chant this into your mind*

I'm not too sure on anyone in the Philippines area, I think Hendyzone might be? but don't quote me on that.

As for your own keycap nothing better than seeing it in progress and if you do some of the other keymakers can give you help, I know Binge and Nubbinator are pretty nice fellows that will help you if you just ask nicely :) PS: Add Glitter to any clear keys to make them 20% more awesome!

Now I leave you with Snowbell Miku of mine :)

Thank you for the tips with the makers, I do have been stalking the making stuff together threads and it's pretty fun to read everything! I'll prolly start posting my own once I have screwed enough.

I wanna see your whole nendo collection! I wanted Snowbell Miku too but when I started the pre-ordered was way past over. I think I would post mine to the thread Rowdy had posted  ^-^ (Thanks Rowdy!)

There is a what do you collect thread that hasn't been updated for a while ;)
