My IBM haul from today
« on: Tue, 11 August 2015, 00:33:21 »
7x IBM + a Chicony

IBM 1390120 Model M

IBM 1390131 Model M

Has an odd teal/blue Escape key that I've never seen on an IBM keyboard.

Chicony 5181 Cherry MX blues

IBM XT 1501100 keyboard in box. Not new but in fantastic condition.

Didn't bother picturing the rest of the Model Ms. They're just they typical 1391404.

The systems
(top) IBM PC AT Computer with IBM 5153 CGA monitor. Didn't come with the 84-key AT keyboard but I have a few of them around anyways.
(bottm) IBM PC XT Computer with IBM 5151 monochrome monitor. Uses the 1501100 XT keyboard obviously.

IBM PS/2

That XT board is VERY nice. Drool. Nice haul.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

I bought them locally from a guy that "collected" them for a number of years. He had them stored at his grandmothers house and she was moving. Apparently there was a lot more but they had an estate sale and the majority were sold there.

Nice find :)

What do you plan to do with them all?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Probably sell of the Chicony and 1391404s to recoup the investment. The machines, no idea yet.
