repair files .xlsx ?

hi i got a problem with some files i recovered with " PC inspector File Recovery"... the prob is that 2 out of the 4 are damaged or something like that... when i open them it says that is impossible to open the file cuz its format or extension is not valid. Do someone knows how to repair these files???

- Win xp sp2

Make sure you can see file extensions. Then, change the extension to .zip. Try to extract the files out of there. If they won't open you can try some sort of zip repair utility.

Try to open the files extracted from the zip.

I'm barely familiar with Office but Excel spreadsheets are normally named something.xls

You could try renaming the .xlsx files to the .xls extension and see if Office or, more exactly, Excel will open them. If it can't open them then they are probably truly damaged.

Do you have the compatibility pack installed for Office? If not, get it here. I think at least with XP and anything before Office 2010 you need that pack to view the pseudo-proprietary formats.

Without playing 20Q, if the files won't open on another device the files are most likely broken. Not that it can't be repaired...with effort.
