Hi, my name's Kaamraan, and I'm from Durban, South Africa. Mechanical keyboards aren't very common down here, and they're not talked about a lot either- at least not much deeper than the surface level stuff, like the fact that they're better than membranes. I've been aware of them for about 2 years or so, but I only really started looking into them about 2 weeks ago. Being as rare as they are over here, I'd only ever seen them going for the equivalent of around $200, and I'd never really had a need for one either. I'm about 6 months into my MA now (Media and Cultural Studies, shhh, I know), and I found a CM Storm with reds for just under half that price. I then managed to convince myself that it would motivate me to type more and do more work for my MA, and so it's coming in tomorrow- I am incredibly excited about this.
I've spent so much time recently checking out keysets and keycaps, reading up on the different printing methods and plastics used, and also learning about all the different artisan keycap manufacturers- Bro caps are probably my favourite, and I really hope to get one some time within the next few months, even though it'll cost me around half the price of the board itself.
This place seems like a lot of fun, and I hope to contribute to that in some way. I'm really happy I found this forum
