Hello GH and thanks for the empty wallet...
« on: Sun, 20 September 2015, 02:48:59 »
Hi. I'm Steve. I was building a new comp and whilst I was cleaning my old rubber dome Logitech, I broke the space bar! I decided that it was probably a good time to upgrade the keyboard and I had heard about mechanical KBs, but knew next to nothing about them. Well, I found this forum (late) and now I'm a proud owner of a Ducky One w/ Brown MX switches and have preordered the Ducky Shine 5 (brown MX)!

I originally bought a Corsair K70 w/ red LEDs but didn't like the feel so that is when I found this community. Y'all helped turn me on to new brands I'd never heard of and now I am totally broke. :)

Anyway, hi from Texas!

Welcome to Geekhack!

And just think - this is only the start.  Wait until you find out about custom keycap sets.

And then there's all those nice artisan keycaps - gotta get one or two of those to spruce up your keyboards ;)

And all those other switch types too, including Topre and buckling spring!!

Welcome to Wallethack ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
