HHKB mod
« on: Sun, 20 September 2015, 22:31:19 »
Hi,

I'm trying to mod my hhkb with dental band. After removing the keycap I notice there is a small lock on the topre switch. If I press hard it can come out but the lock could also be broken. Just wonder how you guys do it? There seems no way to avoid this...

There is no harm in breaking that little plastic tab. Once everything is screwed back together, you won't notice any difference.

You can also just trim a little bit off of it with a knife. or you can push really hard on the tab with a flat head or something. Latter option will take a lot more effort and time.

Since it hasn't been explained, the little tabs are there to keep the slider in when the keyboard is apart and there's no keys attached to the slider. Otherwise they serve no purpose.

Thanks for explaining that. Makes perfect sense. My fear of breaking them off has now subsided.

I had those doubts before. Thanks for the information. I can do the silent mod now.
All those keyboards will be lost in time....
