FILCO Majeetouch stuck key

Hi, I have a five year old Filco Majestouch brown. It was working flawlessly until now. My numpad zero feels a bit sticky/crunchy..well its just a different feel versus the rest of the keys and i find it very annoying
Like when I press it, theres an extra resistance in the initial press where it wasnt before.

Question is, can i fix it by say, replacing something (spring or whatever) from one of the Function keys which i totally dont use anyway, to put it in the numpad zero? Its driving me insane cos I use numpad zero when I play certain games. THanks!

Welcome to Geekhack!

Switches can be replaced - that is one of the nice things about mechanical keyboards.

You will need to remove the keycap, disassemble the case, desolder the switch, solder in the replacement switch, and reassemble.

I think first thing you can do is to pull out the keycap to check is there anything stuck under the keycaps.  Also check the stabilizer wire is in the right place.  If nothing wrong with the keycaps and stabilizer, follow what rowdy said.

sigh, I can only remove the keycab. desoldering, i got zero skills or resources

oops sorry it was numpad 1 so no stabilizer wire

Did you remove said keycap?

Was there something stuck underneath?

Here's another thought - numpad 0 has stabilisers, right?  Maybe the stabiliser insert has become dislodged.  Removing and replacing the keycap would solve that one.

 removed just now. nothing stuck =( its not that bad but definitely not as smooth as the rest. It got a more tactile feel than the rest of the keys

If the keycap is still removed, does anything feel amiss when you press the switch without the keycap on?

What about when compared to another switch (which will involve removing a second keycap - no big deal)?
