Distinct lack of Leopold FC660C in Europe
« on: Thu, 24 September 2015, 06:01:44 »
This is a disgrace!
So I mean to remedy this, but putting one on my desk. [Europe 1 - 0 'They']

Now, I could buy it from Amazon, but with import charges and shipping from the US it would be over $330 to Norway.

I hear of these 'proxies', but I have searched the forum without finding one in SK. There are services online, but I wouldn't necessarily trust them, and even if I could, the overhead/fee could be better spent by a community member than a nameless corporation.

So, are proxies the best way to get FC660Cs to Europe? Are there stores in the EU with these keyboards? If I order from the EU I can have it sent to Sweden Poste Restante and pick it up there. They are available on eBay as well, but then I'd rather just order from Amazon and pay all the swingeing fees. (NEW WORD, GUYS!!!)

topre in general is (almost) nowhere to be found in Europe. unless you get it second-hand, you're probably going to have to deal with high shipping costs and import charges.
well, i do know there are proxies out there that are willing to cheat on declaring the costs of the board to reduce (or kill) the import charges, but even then it won't be cheap (and it adds some risk).
the only source i know of for some topre is keyboardco.com (but they don't have leopold.) though, with VAT + shipping, the prices skyrocket so high that you might as well import :/ ($292 for a regular 87U, and that is without shipping!)

we're screwed!

The joy when you receive the keyboard will erase the memory of the fees.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
