CM Novatouch not being detected by windows, help please!
« on: Sat, 26 September 2015, 14:25:23 »
Hello,
I recently purchased a used CM novatouch. The board had very minimal use, and the previous owner did not have an issue with it. I am not able to get it recognized by windows consistently or for any substantial amount of time. I will hook it up, and receive an unknown device error. I have tried multiple computers, with multiple versions of windows, and multiple usb cords. I have uninstalled all my USB drivers and reinstalled them. The weird thing is it will very rarely work, however when it is operational, a slight movement could cause it to become an unrecognizable device again. I am stumped. Any advice, or opinions on the matter would be appreciated greatly. Thanks!

Maybe a faulty cable? Loose contacts or something? Did you try opening it up and taking a look?

Can't be the USB cable, I have tried multiple ones. Are you saying the cable from the case to the PCB? I have not opened it yet, I am kinda waiting to see if it will need to be RMA'd to cool master and don't want to risk them not replacing / repairing it by me opening it up.

Well, if you say that the board is no longer being recognized when moved I'm concluding that some contact in or on the board disconnects in consequence of the movement. Most likely this could be the cable, since it's often the contact which is most commonly connected/ disconnected. (the port holding the plug could have become loose or something)
