Get Forza Horizon 2 instead. It is infinitely better, no forced tutorials, no annoying ai voice stopping every 2 seconds with "helpful tips", and you can actually get into races instead of sitting in a lobby for 10 mins waiting for the racers to finish up 7 more laps.

Horizon is where it's at, basically Burnout Paradise but with Forza.

If you like games like burnout paradise then of course you would like forza horizon better. I personally like playing a racing simulator, which is what the forza series started as on the original xbox. I don't care for the idea of a fictional open world environment. The driving is a lot more unrealistic as well. I do however enjoy playing a game that for the most part are tracks you could go visit in real life. The cars handle and feel as they would in real life. The forza series has always been the best racing series for someone into racing simulation games, combing both customization and realistic feeling.

I have no doubt people like forza horizon but its not personally my thing. I have been playing forza for a decade now and when they came out with the first horizon i was very disappointed because they took a game that had been a simulation for years and turned it into something it had never been. Glad they came back with forza 5 and 6 to be honest.

I only own 3 xbox games. Forza 5, Forza 6, and Halo. No interest in the horizon series.

But I still only play Forza 4 since I can't bring myself to buy Miscrosoft's newer spy machine. Switching to Asetto Corsa on PC for my fix.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

If you prefer racing sim type games then you should pick up Project Cars, it's much better than Forza which IMO has only gotten more and more like burnout and Need For Speed with its simulation type stuff. I can't talk to the xbone version but the PC version is very nice

Forza has no other because of the sounds. The engine sounds are absolutely phenomenal.

I bought project cars for PC hoping i did not have to buy an xbox one to play the new Forza. asked steam for a refund 3 days later. The only thing in the forza series that feels like NFS is the forza horizon games. I had a hard time finding people to play project cars with and usually found empty lobby's when i tried playing online.

Elaborate on the spy machine. Do you mean you dont like the kinect thing?

I played the last Forza for 360 and it was horrible, the physics and car modeling was trash, idk how anyone could consider that anymore than a glorified NFS game tbh lol Project Cars is as close to a sim as you can realistically get without being forced to use a wheel at which point your playing iRacing.

Well yeah. The "always-on and listening", the "kinect has to be connected at all times", the stupid DRM, etc. Sure, they removed a bunch of stuff in response to the fallout from the announcement, but their original intent has not changed. And with the release of Win10 you can see the direction the company is going in, with the user's data becoming more and more a core part of their business and profits. I just don't trust MS with a system in my living room that can record anything we do and say and send it to MS servers at the request of anyone in the US government. So, spy-machine.

...

Then you don't know squat about suspension and tire physics and how real cars react. Forza 4 simulates the behaviour of tires and suspension better than any other console title of it's era, including GT5. And I'm not just talking about the stock car models, you can tweak / swap / adjust / tune settings in the car setup and the differences are noticable and realistic. It's a very well researched and implemented engine.

"being forced to use a wheel..." Urm... you're talking about realism and you're not using a wheel? I guess that explains your preferences.

OP, if you like Forza you'll probably like Asetto Corsa: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-01-16-assetto-corsa-review

Lmao Oobly

You talk **** then recommend AC, a game that's (last time I booted it up) half finished and has crazy expensive DLC over Project Cars when they are both simulating to around the same level?
If your all about that sim why aren't you playing iRacing or rFactor, y'know actual simulators. To try and suggest that playing Forza, GT, AC and Project Cars with a wheel makes them more of a simulator than using a controller is insane, because while all those games try to emulate a simulator, at the end of the day they are games that play just as well with a controller as they do a wheel.

Though I'm sure your rocking a rig like this right?

:)

Use what you like, enjoy playing whatever game you prefer. I prefer Forza and Asetto Corsa as they respond the way I expect a car to respond. In Forza 4 I can get lighter rims, tweak my tire dimensions and compound, install adjustable suspension and set it up for my driving style, the car configuration (drive configuration and weight balance, etc) and the particular track and enjoy experiencing the differences on-track (it's really satisfying to take a good car and turn it into a great one). I like to have more and better visual feedback than iracing and rfactor give, they're not immersive enough for me, so Asetto Corsa is my fix. I don't yet have my Oculus DK2, but that's the way to go if you're using a PC rather than a bunch of screens.

And yes, using a wheel is different from using a controller, they implement different algorithms for each in the games. It's an important step in Forza with whatever controller you're using to set up the linearity / deadzones, etc. Stock settings are bit rubbish and make all the difference to enjoying the game.

I just bought an xbox one without a kinect and it works fine. I do not believe they have to be plugged in. Still a spy machine then?

I was talking about the system as it was at launch. They removed a bunch of stuff due to people's complaints and outrage at the lack of privacy, but the fact remains that they can turn on stuff remotely if they want and I don't trust MS with something like that in my living room, considering how they're changing from a "products" company to a "services" one, with a strong focus on collecting as much data from their users as possible.

I'm kind of anti-MS for a number of reasons, one of which is what they did to the IT sector in Finland with the whole Nokia thing, but the company simply has a history of being devious and screwing their customers and partners in the name of profit, right from the get-go.

How does it compare to 5? Only tried the demo version, it was pretty neat.
