Hey guys!
« on: Thu, 08 October 2015, 21:45:40 »
Hey all! Recently became interested in mks and decided I should join the forum.  (sorta) short and sweet backstory:

-Did some research and bought a Ducky Shine 4 MX Browns for gaming. liked it but wasn't active community member
-Wanted a mk for work so I bought a v60 Mini w/ Matias Quiet Switches. Quickly fell in love but still not active
-Decided I wanted new caps for the v60 but could hardly find any
-That led me to doing a good amount of research on ALPS and other mk related things and I became hooked
-Also saw some sweet pictures of some peoples 180%s and decided I wanted a collection of 60%s one day haha

welcome to geekhack! ;D
theres a groupbuy on massdrop going on right now for some doubleshot abs keycaps (WoB, dolch, olivette) for alps switches... fairly cheap
although yours might have come stock with them if you bought from mechanicalkeyboards.com? not sure haha

Thanks! I was actually like the 3rd person to join that drop haha. I'm in for the Olivette and Dolch sets. I'm a real sucker for deals. My wallet isn't the biggest fan of this new hobby

Welcome to geekhack! I see you are learning fast....if you need help staying away from keyboard stuff and healing your wallet, we have the Off Topic subforum. I don't know what I'd do with out it....probably spend too much money.  :p

Welcome to Geekhack!

I recently received my Alps Dolch keycaps from the last Massdrop, er, drop.  They are typical Tai Hao fare, that is to say consistent, solidly made, a little on the thin side compared to some sets, but a very good buy for the money.

My problem now is that I have no Alps keyboards :))
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
