HHKB Type-S worth it if I already have 55g HHKB pro2?
« on: Sun, 11 October 2015, 18:46:40 »
I have been getting an itch for a new purchase and have kind of set my eyes on a HHKB type-s.  I have never tried one however it cant be THAT much different from a HHKB pro 2, could it?

I am curious to hear any opinions of any individuals who have tried both boards.

I honestly don't care much for silencing, but does the Type-S feel even more buttery smooth to type on?

I find the HHKB pro 2 noise to be just fine.

If money was no issue, would you choose the Type-s or Pro 2?  I know some people actually prefer the pro 2 to the Type-s.

Am I being stupid for even wanting a Type-s or should i just buy a white HHKB pro 2.

One main reason for me wanting another HHKB is my first one was black, and I regret now not getting a white one.

Yes it's worth it. I love it so much I bought 3 for home and work.

It's nice to get that different feeling of 45g and 55g.
Please feed my addiction.

It's not worth it at all in my humble opinion. A simple dental band mod with some lube had the same effect (if not better) for me. I felt the s part of that version of the keyboard is overly hyped.

I'm not a fan. It feels grittier, not smoother, and IMO the Type-S's sound is not as pleasant.
Please consider carefully before you decide to comment, for Jesus.

I think I'd prefer a plain old HHKB over a Type S for teh soundz.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

You don't care about the silencing, so no, just get the regular HHKB. Half of the sound is in the upstroke...
