Where to purchase Redscarf kit
« on: Wed, 21 October 2015, 19:53:23 »
Been looking into RS boards and I really like most of them. They also seem to be in reasonable price ranges, does anyone know where to purchase these? I found a few on Taobao, but I've heard they are only on GB right now.

Which one are you looking for?
You can find them listed on taobao but unless you order in a GB timeframe you won't be able to get one because they are produced for GB only aswell as taobao buyers.
They usually get sold through GB here.

Oh okay that makes sense. I just recently found out about these, wasn't sure where to purchased. Just as you stated everyone I've spoken to has said they are usually only sold via GB. I was really interested in the RS68! Thanks for confirmation about GB purchasing.

Yup those are the exact ones I was looking at on Taobao  :thumb: I'll be keeping a look out, just noticed there was a GB on here back in July for the RS84. Very cool layout as well....but these 68,77,78 look so gooood!

I have the RS96, ended up being really easy to program and build it all after a few minor issues. I wouldn't have a problem recommending it but it is very hard to come by, I spent a decent bit searching around and found a fellow geekhacker willing to part with his kit. A few have been popping up classifieds, if you patiently wait you may be able to catch one usually for a good price.

I actually saw your post when you first got your kit. Glad to hear everything turned out well! Good to hear you had a good experience with it. I wish I knew about these earlier, keeping an eye out though on the Classifieds for one!

Thanks, I do like the acrylic case with smd leds at the bottom but I wish there was a metal case for the added weight. I know Bromono was trying to sell his, I can't recall whether he sold it off or not.

Yeah acrylic bottom housing and smd is always a really nice look. I'd love to get one with a full metal case. The lightsavers are so expensive, figured I'd go with an RS then snag a metal case down the road.

Metal cases are hard to come by, I may sell mine down the road but I'm afraid I won't make my money back. Without keycaps I spent $350 on it, I love the board but my goal was always the lightsaver.

It's been a fun but costly experience so far with keyboards haha. My next project is the Orion v2 when it eventually ships and then I'm hoping it will satisfy my needs for one of duck's boards. My true goal is to really collect all the keyboards I possibly can but being on a student budget is rough :p. There's been a fair amount of lightsavers for sale in classifieds as well but I haven't seen one under $450. I've promised myself to building only 2-3 keyboards a year so after the holidays it'll reset. :thumb:

Will do, I'm planning on going all out with this build. I bought some 65g Zealios, gmk hyperfuse + Matching Booper Artisan Caps + CMYW Kit, and sip socket and led all each switch. I've got into the hobby so much that, since I'm up at college and not using it, I'm planning on selling my gaming rig or trade it for a few boards. I have a really nice laptop as well and would much prefer additional keyboards.

Man you aren't messing around! That sounds like it's going to be amazing...can't wait to see it all finished. I'm actually temped to sell my rig and just settle on a laptop and use the extra cash toward boards. I don't game much at all anymore and I got a 980ti and 1440p 144hz rog swift that I don't even use the potential for.

I can just never find the time to game anymore, school takes up a lot of time let alone something like your schedule haha. Anytime I get interested in an activity or hobby I like to do some research and get the best, longest lasting products which is evidently the more expensive products. Yeah it's literally pointless to build a gaming rig if you're still in school...for how much it's worth building a nice one, there just isn't the time to put into it. Not worth it to me, I'll probably end up selling mine or at least down grading some parts cause I have no use for a 980ti atm and my monitor is overkill. Like you said though, the expensive stuff lasts.
