Logitech G310/410 RGB tkl? Opinions?
« on: Thu, 22 October 2015, 11:05:09 »
Logitech made the TKL version of G910.

G410 with RGB: http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/rgb-tenkeyless-gaming-keyboard-g410&WT.ac=g410

SEA version is G410 without RGB and media keys (G310): http://gaming.logitech.com/id-id/product/g310-mechanical-gaming-keyboard?wt.ac=g310 / http://gaming.logitech.com/en-my/product/g310-mechanical-gaming-keyboard

Looking at the G310 right now since I don't use RGB and don't have media keys enabled in windows, wondering if it's worth picking up or not? Have anyone tried the G910 (same switch) and can provide some positive feedback about the keyboard? Or why I shouldn't bother and look for other keyboards instead?

I'll go back to Indonesia for a short time around December for new year break, will pick up (or not, based on your vote) the G310.

Interesting note about price.

G310 MSRP is set to 2M IDR (150USD) while the G410 RGB is 130-135USD. If the final retail is indeed higher in Indonesia then I'll pick up the G410 on Amazon when I return to the US instead. Malaysian price 500RM with 6% VAT (530) is around 127USD, which is close to the G410 MSRP in the US.

I have been using the G910 since it's release, and the G410 now for a couple weeks. I will say that the 310 looks like it didn't get any of the improvements that the 410 received, such as
not using cupped keycaps on every single key (which was annoying). Also, there is a very distinct difference in switch feel between the 910 and 410. I am guessing that Logitech took the feedback
regarding a 'mushy' feeling switch, and made improvements. I think the 310 also did not receive those improvements based on the time it was released.

I guess you should try out both if you can and base it on that.

Oh damn, didn't notice that.

410 for sure right now.

Do you think the switches have a crisp feedback / bump? I tried the 910 on best buy and can't really feel the key bump, maybe this is what you refer as being a mushy key.

Where did you obtain a 410? Amazon is stocked out right now and newegg is still on preorder stage.

Yeah, they are very crisp in comparison. I really like the feel. There is some tactile feedback that is more pronounced.

I got mine directly from Logitech. They ship pretty fast.

I love my 910, but this talk of a better feeling switch in the 410 has me curious. I also like the idea of normal caps, although I'm pretty used to the caps on the 910 at this point. Hopefully I can track down a 410 to try out.

I tried the 910 in a shop and for me it was not a great experience.  The keycaps were, for me terrible with different styles of cupping on different keys.  The Romer-G switches were also kind of meah.  They did not jump out at me at all.

Skip forward to the 410.  I have tried it and I like it a lot more.  The caps are much better.  The switchs felt better I thought, but without a 910 to contrast with I was not sure.  (I wonder if in the future Logitech will bring out a Romer-T for typing) and I much prefer a tkl board for gaming.

My only concern is the keycaps are not going to last as long as the switches, but a Logitech poster on /r/LogitechG has hinted that logitech are planning on bring out replacment keycaps.  But of course that is only a hint, not a confirmation.

I have no idea they were making the 310, but I am planning on picking up the 410 either before or just after xmas.

Thought I'd chime in on an old thread:

I have a G410 right now and I do really like the feel of the switches combined with the "normal" keycaps.  I particularly like the high, tactile activation point, but others who are used to, say, mx blues, will probably find it jarring.  I've always been a pretty light fingered touch typist, so it suits me just fine.  The colors are bright and even, with nearly zero bleed under the caps, but I think yellows are a bit off.  Personally, I would have been fine with a one-color illuminated board, so the RGB is a bonus for me anyway.

I don't care for the molded, one-handed wrist rest.  I understand Logitech's logic here, but I think they're just outsmarting themselves.  It isn't too bad, but it's just annoying that it's permanently molded into the case.  I may break out a dremel and some plastic weld someday if it really starts grinding my gears.  Speaking of the case, when you have the backlights turned down to a non-radioactive level, or even off, the board doesn't look too bad.

The keyboard also has some resonance and pinging which is a little unpleasant, but I think I may just be noticing it more because my work keyboard is topre.  Regardless, I think I might try some damping material in the case.

In summation, if the only thing you didn't like about the G910 was the keycaps, then you'll be pleased with this board.  I hope Logitech can put these switches in more professional looking boards--it'd be nice if they became widespread enough to justify some aftermarket keycaps.

I like the idea that the Romer-G switches were developed in partnership with Omron (who seem to make great mouse switches),

but I'd rather they do away with the cupped keycaps altogether, tone down the aesthetic of the case (it doesn't need to be undetectable by radar), build in a detachable full size wrist rest, center the cable, and bring back the dedicated gamepanel instead of making me use my phone.
