Novatouch Question
« on: Tue, 03 November 2015, 18:39:32 »
I recently purchased a Novatouch TKL and I am using it on a Mac. I am getting a weird issue where its seems like a key is getting stuck and I have to unplug the keyboard to make it stop. Has any one else had this issue?

Is the key physically getting stuck or will it be continuously be outputting the same key? Also have you found what activates the issue, when you press that certain key?

Sorry I did not clarify. No the key is not physically getting stuck. I can make it happen if I try and use the Novatouch built in key accelerator by hitting fn + f2-f4 but I can make it stop by pressing fn + f1.

But it also happens randomly and I have not pinpointed what triggers it the other times and I can not get it to stop by hitting fn + f1. The only way I can get the keyboard to work again is by unplugging it.

It seems to me that it could be a software issue, it does not seem like you would have a problem on your pcb or with a switch. Sadly with the information provided I can't help all that much, your best bet may just have to be contacting Cooler Master and see if they can resolve the issue.

I've used a NovaTouch with no problem on a Mac. That being said, how much troubleshooting have you done? Have you tried the keyboard in another computer and/or using a different USB cable? Is the board directly plugged into your computer or do you have it connected to a hub? I just want to see if we can eliminate other things before jumping on the RMA bandwagon.

I have tried it on two different computers. It seems to happen more on one then the other. It is not plugged directly into the computer it is going through a USB hub and I have not tired a different cable. I will try these and report back, thanks for pointing that out.

I would advise that you contact Cooler Master and see if you can try a replacement. Chances of this same issue happening with 2 keyboards are slim to nil. If you do go this route and it happens with the second keyboard, then I would conclude it's a software/driver issue with the computer and has nothing to do with the keyboard.
