This guy is selling 10(or more) sets of 10 G80-1800 each!

So for the price of 20 Euro + 10 Euro shipping (within Germany) you get 10 G80-1800. I have confirmed this by writing a mail and asking if the buy it now price really is valid for 10 keyboards, not one.

So including shipping this is 3 Euros per board, you won't get it cheaper again ever.

Anyone in Germany wanna order a set together? I have to resist hard to not order 10 on my own.

I honestly wouldn't know what to do with ten of 'em. One might be nice (e.g. as a gift for a gaming friend), or maybe two tops. Now if someone were a dye wizard, then he could easily resell them with pink WASD and red Escape...

Cheap G80-1800s seem to appear on eBay Germany once in a while. I guess someone won a whole pile at an auction of stuff from some defunct company.

The seller sells POS equipment. There were several of POS 1800s available about a year ago. I got one for free because another deal went wrong. Mine has an additional slot in the case and a non-standard controller. Thinking of it, it should be programmable...

Crap. If someone orders them, let me know. If they have an ANSI layout (the pic in the auction is stock, but I doubt it, anyway), I will buy one or two and pay for the shipping.  Even if there is a way I could easily convert it to ANSI, I would still want one.

Most of them are in a good condition, only some have worn out keys or are yellowed, but every 'board had a logo on the upper left corner which got scratched off. (second picture)
The keyboards have german layout with Windows-keys. (Some have the old Win95 one, but most have the WinXP logo.)
They have black Cherry switches and gray ones under the spacebar.

I would sell some of the keyboards, since I don't need the whole bunch. :)

Assuming Sixty hasn't pulled the trigger on that deal, (If he has, I'll have one off him as I declared interest there first), and you would be OK shipping to the UK, then I would be interested too. Need to try Cherries, and this seems a perfect introduction. If I don't like, I can give the board to a friend who should love it.

I don't really know anymore, after using black Cherrys for so long now I really grew to like them a lot.. this has reached the point where I am considering to swap the blues in my tenkeyless for blacks!

PS: I also have a feeling that newer black MX feel different from older ones. This could of course be due to years of heavy use, but I'm not sure. I think it was huha who reported of something similar and preferred the newer ones much more than those used in the older G80s.

Also, I can't see why people call them stiff, they never really felt stiff to me. Take the black Fukkas in the ABS - now THAT is stiff. I guess either my typing is really strong or everyone else is just too weak to handle the awesomeness of the black MX!

Well, they are stiffer than the other MX switches, but mostly, you're a lot more likely to bottom out on a linear switch than on a tactile one.

Still have the blacks in my mini and still like them. I think I bottom them out less than other switches, maybe because of the required 80 grams.

I heard that they redesigned them so that they'd be less noisy. Maybe that could be it?

Yeah, the Black Alps are uncomfortably stiff. The Model M is pretty much as stiff as I like my keyswitches.

As far as Cherry blacks go, I prefer them well-worn. Otherwise they are a little on the stiff side. Still rather acceptable switches absolutely speaking. Badly aged black Alps are pretty awful.

Part of it might be that the initial resistance of the black MX is 40g with an activation point of 60 (and a max of 80) where the ALPS is higher initially (around 75g, IIRC) and a sharp fall off after the tactile point.  I would think that the black MX could be a little easier/more comfortable than ALPS depending on your typing style.

And I'm snagging a board from 42.tar.gz as well. If I'm going to dive into Cherries, I'd better try the "worst" one out there, if I don't like it the switches only get better. The stiffness shouldn't be a problem for me, as my Daily driver is an M13, and I used a 1391406 for many many years as a daily driver.

I think my potential problem is if they have "rattly" caps. That, no matter how good the switch is, makes it Game Over for me.

Bare in mind that they're also linear, so you don't get the satisfying click that makes the Buckling Springs worthwhile.

Cherry keycaps are pretty good. It's the Alps you want to be careful of though...

I'm well used to Alps (I have pinks in my Wang (Snigger), and pretend alps (Until I find out who actually made them) in a random board). I just want to try cherries, and this seems like a cheap introduction, as long as I bear in mind that these are "the worst" of them.

I got my boards from him today, they are in EXCELLENT condition, they literally look like new. The back reveals that they were used in a big pharmacy chain(?) which likely means they were kept with very strict cleaning policies and most people who used them probably wore gloves.

There is no wear on the keys and I did not get any yellowing on my boards. Perfect condition, really.

I had sadly forgotten to pack the board from work and left it in the car so I only got around to sending a trade item back to 42.tar.gz today. Thanks again for offering to split your lot and I hope you enjoy the stuff I sent you in return :)
