Feenix Autore
« on: Thu, 05 November 2015, 16:29:39 »
Hello everyone! Today i stumbled upon a keyboard that i've not seen anywhere before.

It is somewhat put in the "gaming" category but equipped with MX browns and no LED at all.
Build quality seems very okay even though it's hard to determine by some unboxing videos and the manufacturer's own description.
They really took a different approach regarding the design - which is much to my liking.

Anyway, i'm hoping someone heard anything about it and could share some knowledge!

Link to the actual keyboard:

Link to the unboxing review that introduced me to it(he performs some typing at some point):
Fast-forward to 4:20 to skip the mouse-review.

What does GH think - Christmas present contender?

Looks pretty, but they seem to be relying a lot on BS marketing speak (i.e. gold plated everything) to jump the price point up.

Search the forum, there are already some reviews on it.

TL;DR:
 - it's a decent keyboard
 - somewhat lighter browns(some people have stated this)
 - silk keycaps blah blah blah wear down very quickly
 - Metalicesque painjob looks very good
 - too pricey for what you get
 - clone of a much cheaper rosewill keyboard(altough i disagree with this)

My opinion: It looks very good(an awesome with one of the black on black pbt sets from ivan) and maybe the only keyboard for which the logo looks good on the board BUT way too much expensive for what you get, you are paying the costumer service after all...

Lol okay :D
Thanks for that, I will go read!
-I was pretty surprised that it was not covered here on GH, atleast when I tried to search.

I guess there is no point in this topic then!

Thanks for the summing up. I found the pretty thorough review with the provided links, I guess its the one you talk about, where I will be headed. But I guess it is what i feared reading your nifty TL;DR.

Anyway feel free to close/remove this topic. Interestingly the search-functions provides me a whole bunch of results when searching 'feenix' again. I don't know what I did wrong.

If I remember correctly it's a Costar board, so quality should be good.

But yes the main complaint is that they charge too much for what it is.  You're better off with Filco/WASD V2/Rosewill/CM Storm XT/CM Storm QFR.... etc.

:thumb:

However I won't deny it's a very good looking keyboard lol.

Two additional things:

- Doesn't play well with cherry profile, you'll end up with sunken keys I.e. arrow keys almost the same level as the case. Putting SA on it works, though you'll lose the tall look of it.
- The edges are sharp! Not a defect by but design.

I love mine, love it for the looks and build quality. Other than that it's an OK board. Love my wasd v2 more though.

Thank you for the images ;) I actually like seeing the caps like that :D and would love seeing a complete SA set on that!

I finally found a video showing the internals

They seem very cheap for the price, the case is very thin :(
