Hello GH! I'm Davy.
« on: Sat, 07 November 2015, 09:43:46 »
Hi GH! I'm a long time lurker, quality engineer by day and avid keyboarder by night.

My history of mechanicals is as follows:
1. CGK 65 RGB with MX Reds
2. WASD v2 104 key with MX Blues
3. Pok3r with MX Browns
4. CM Novatouch (45g)
5. HHKB Pro 2 (45g)

I recently started getting into artisan caps and am working on my collection now. I've been active in the community since August 2015 (generally on /r/MK) and have loved everyone in it so far. Excited to be here!

Welcome! I like the progression you made through keyboards and switches. I've asked this to several other members who have used both the CM Novatouch and HHKB, what are your thoughts on the two? I'm interested in both and just wondering what your thoughts are on each.

Welcome to Geekhack!

A nice variety of keyboards you have tried :)

Have you got a favourite?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thanks for the warm welcome all!

If I type your name are you going to sue me?

Yes. >:D

Thanks man! It's been fun going through different boards. The Novatouch is a great board at a decent price. I really dislike that it uses micro-USB for the board side connector, but if you like Topre switches and don't want to mod out another board it's great that you can throw Cherry-MX sets on it. That being said, I enjoy the HHKB way more. It feels better when typing and the thock is so damn satisfying. Plus position of the control is nice, took me a day to find a DIP configuration I like but it's my daily driver now.
