Any clue whay kinda of switch this is
« on: Thu, 12 November 2009, 11:27:00 »
Ok I ran across another small keyboard over on Yahoo Japan and thought at first that I had ran across another variant of the MD01B0 (there are quite a few of them BTW) so asked the seller to pull a key and take a picture. It was not what I was hopping for but still I have not seen this one before and I can't find anything out about it. So here I am asking here.

So any Idea's or links to more information on it would be great. I have dug through sandys site and a few others but have not found this board nor the switch. I have found similar OKI boards but not this one and those other boards had a different switch in them or where rubber dome boards. The seller indicates that this particular board is very rare. And of course has listed it at a fairly high price.

Keyboards
Topre Capacitive: Realforce 87U, Realforce 86U, HHKB Pro 2, Topre MD01B0, Topre HE0100, Sun Short Type, OEM NEO CS (x2), NISSHO Electronics KB106DE
Buckling Spring: IBM Model M Space Saver (1291472), Unicomp Customizer x 2
Cherry Brown: Filco FKBN87M/EB, Compaq MX11800
Black Alps: ABS M1
Not so great boards Rare Spring over dome OKI, Sun rack keyboard

Trackballs - Trackman Wheel (3), Trackman marble (2)
Keyboards I still want to get - Happy Hacking Keyboard Pro 2 the White version, Realforce 23U number pad in black and maybe white, μTRON ergo board with Topre switches.
Previously owned - SiiG MiniTouch (White Alps), Scorpius M10 (Blue Cherry), IBM Model M13

I wonder if that's not a broken Cherry ML switch.

Eh...katakana legends...

Hiragana legends would be nicer.

Nope not a broken Cherry ML Switch.

Found some more information on it. This is a better picture of the switch and it seems that it may be hammer on membrane or some such. It is really starting to intrigue me.

Any ways here is a better picture of it:

From what I have found it also may have a 40g force as well.

Hmm. Keycaps look kinda nice. And katakana on the keys would probably look pretty neat too.

Life is tough, isn't it?

Email Sandy, I think that's your best bet. It's not like anything I've ever seen.

I'd prefer no legends. Every time I see one of those Japanese keyboards, they always look like someone scribbled all over them.
