Brought this up in my g80 thread, but it's worthy of another topic.
We all love blank keyboards.
if you were anything like me, you used to sandpaper the letters off or spraypaint them in your earlier years. We all probably did it for the same reasons: to improve our typing skill and infuriate our friends just enough to where it was funny,
but not enough to where they steal your girlfriend and secretly have sex w her on your mom's bed because goddammit i trusted you dude. i thought you were my BFF you ****ing backstabber. But I digress
I think "blank" keyboards should have more style. I'm a bit tired of the "sleeper" look, and I'd rather have something avant-garde, tragically ludicrous, ludicrously tragic. The ultimate in postmodern design! teeming with the ironies and allusions that you start to appreciate after a year in community college.
Why not, instead of blank caps, someone prints caps with characters that people stopped using 3000 years ago? It's just as good as blank, and would look way cool.
I was going to suggest latin, and then I found out they already make those.
so how about it? hyroglyphic keycaps? too much like wingdings for ya?
phoencian?
linear A?
Ancient chinese looks pretty cool. I don't know much about ancient texts, but I like the way some of them look. Prolly someone here has more knowledge than me.
If that's a bit too overboard, how about just roman numerals for the num row?
