I am starting to prefer my Hammer-cased Alps board to my Octagon. I'm not sure if this is because of the investment I have in the board, or because of the shorter throw and feel of Alps and what not... or if it's the lower incline on the Hammer case, or the SA caps vs Alps caps. I don't think it's the 60% layout alone, but it has turned into one of my favorite boards to type on, hands down.
It looks like your entire keyboard experience is a big incognita.
It's super relative, I think. I absolutely loved my Octagon when it was the main contender for a daily driver. The Infinity was nice, but didn't really compete with my Octagon for love.
It isn't until now that I'm starting to question my affinities! I'm still going to get a second Octagon though! I have been very tempted to modify it for Alps if an Alps PCB isn't offered.
TBH, it could be the wooden wrist rest digging into my palm that's annoying me about the Octagon. I've never had it bother me before, but it's beginning to now! I admittedly use a soft Grifiti rest on my Hammer, and it's comfy.
I started with that one, but then I moved to the Royal Glam for the Octagon.
I still blame my RSI! Ugh, I hate this stupid injury.
