No Bluetooth Trackballs???
« on: Fri, 04 December 2015, 10:41:38 »
What the hell is this with ALL manufactures' that they refuse to make a bluetooth trackball??? I am soooo pissed! They have bluetooth mice, so what's the big deal they can not use the same damn board upside down for the trackball??? Sure they have to twig it to reverse movement and button location, but easy hack....

If you can find it, look the The Ball by MacMice. It's really the only Bluetooth Trackball I've seen, but can't seem to find one for sale anywhere :(

I know Logitech made one because a coworker at my last job had to "make do" with one.  She couldn't work with mice, but also hated bluetooth input devices.  Unfortunately the bluetooth trackball from logitech was the only one she could find at the time.  It was about 3 years ago though

Logitech makes the m570, which is a thumbball. It works well and is affordable. Not your traditional trackball though.

They are a unique bluetooth standard.  I've heard that folks have gotten them running with their bluetooth, but it's not easy I think

HMMMmm you're right.  Not an easy thing to find...  bah, I'd just get one with a dongle but that's just me.  My computers generally all have a plethora of USB ports so I can plug it and forget it and get a few extra dongles for different computers I'd use it on.

That's highly dubious, esp. upon looking at Linux drivers and the pairing software for Logitech Unifying (that had to be reverse-engineered).

The bluetooth trackball is an item I have not thought about much, in mind ergonomic mice adventures.  And I now realize there are barely any products on the market.
Wish I had some gif or quote for this space, but I got nothing

Oh yea, there are some wireless trackballs on the market, like the Kensington Orbit, but it seems that Logitech is the only bluetooth model.

I think the main reason for this is because a trackball is stationary so the cord doesn't become an issue like on a mouse.

Still, if you really want your favorite trackball to be wireless, the handheld scientific bluetooth converter might just do the job, although the site doesn't specify it:

Not bluetooth, but apparently Logitech made one years ago:

A GH user in Germany just asked what one is worth in that thread if someone is over there and wants one.  They seem pretty neat as they have a dual thumb/finger design.
