Hello!
« on: Sat, 12 December 2015, 15:48:00 »
Hi GH!

I've been lurking here for a while now and decided that I should probably post something.
I started my journey with a Corsair K65/ISO/MX-Reds and quickly learned that the bottom row was non-standard, and made it difficult to get after market caps.
I managed to get some blank universal max-keyboard caps off of Massdrop but they soon developed shine after a few months and combined with the lightness of MX-Reds it was
time to look for a new keyboard. I tried different switches but didn't find one that was perfect I liked browns but didn't find the bump to be all that pronounced.
I took the gamble and ordered a POK3R/ISO/MX_Clear and I'm glad I did as these seem to be my favourite of all the cherry switches.
I haven't had the opportunity to try Topre or Alps/Matias but hope to give them a try in the future.

Heres some pictures of my board: http://imgur.com/a/pekrU

Caps are Tai-Hai from UKKeycaps Group buy and they seem mostly okay, the coating seems to collect dust/hairs/fabrics and I'll probably remove that soon.
The cable is from Pexon PCs, 5 feet long, braid is [550]Miami with [Techflex]Clear double coating.

For the future:
I have joined the drop for the WhiteFox/ISO/Clears as 65% seems to be my perfect layout with the arrow keys + space for artisans/novelties  :D
I'm also looking for a ISO/TKL board for work, but finding ISO/TKL/clears seems to be almost impossible in the UK/EU.
I may read more about the Novatouch see if that is quiet enough for work.

I look forward to being slightly more active here!

All I need is a v1 Dolly, Kult Worship blank, Clack Splat, BBv1, and a Spacebear. That's all.

"I need just one more board" disease.

It's infectious for sure!
There should be a warning or something..

Welcome!

What layout did you choice for the WhiteFox?

I just got a HHKB Pro 2 this Wednesday and I'm loving it! First 60% board. The layout did not take long to get used to. I find that I miss dedicated home/end pgup/pgdn buttons more than anything else.

I went with the ISO layout felt like sticking with what I know till I've delved with ANSI more.
I'm a big fan of the ISO enter too.

Edit: Now that I look at it the True Fox layout does look good

Welcome to Geekhack!

The Leopold FC660M (or even FC660C) is also a 60% keyboard with arrow keys, and also have space for artisans (albeit only 2).  Not sure if it is available in ISO though.

Tai Hao Miami?  Nice :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
